SMA's licences for the two following software packages allow students to install a single copy on a personal computer. Arrange to borrow a CD from a science teacher if you wish to install any of these programs.

 
Graphical Analysis, from Vernier Software, is a simple to use program for creating and analyzing graphs. Graphs can be printed out or pasted into word processor documents such as lab reports.
 
MathType is the professional version of the equation editor that comes with MS Word, AppleWorks, and other products. MathType works with any word processor, presentation program, page layout program, HTML-authoring tool, plus other types of software, to create equations for papers, web pages, slide presentations, etc. See the MathType web site for more information.


SMA uses Satellite Tool Kit software from Analytical Graphics Inc. for part of the Physics course. You can find out more about STK from AGI's website by clicking on the banner at right. A free basic version of this software, 2D views only, can be downloaded from the website.
ImageJ is a powerful image editing program developed at the US National Institutes of Health. It is useful for processing your personal digital photos as well as for technical analysis of all kinds of scientific images. ImageJ is java-based open source (i.e. free) software.
